This week we were completing a reticulation service in Burns Beach for Michelle, who was finding her old Orbit reticulation controller wasn't operational along with a general check over of her system prior to the scorching summer months.
Upon arrival, we noticed the reticulation controller had no display on the screen, and we suggested the replacement with a Rainbird ESP TM2 reticulation controller with a 3 year warranty. These controllers really are bulletproof and seem to be the go to for the majority of irrigation contractors in Perth due to their reliability, durability and most importantly – ease of use for the homeowner!
Once the new retic controller was installed, we moved onto what's called a 'resistance test' of all the solenoids. We noticed that both station 1 & 2 that operated the front lawn had extremely low readings – indicating 'burnt' or faulty coils. We located the solenoids with an Armada Pro 800 valve locating wand, and replaced the solenoids with Irritrol BSP 25mm solenoid valves.
A few other small repairs and sprinkler changes and Michelle's system was back up and running.
