This week we were completing some reticulation in Alkimos that involved repairs and a small installation for Chris.
Chris had an outdated system that hadn’t been used for over 2 years, along with having a pool installed he needed a new reticulation installation to bypass that area and get to his new buffalo turf.
Over the next two days, we had to replace all 7 of the station solenoids, the master valve, a new Rainbird reticulation controller, 65 meters of class 9 PVC pipe and 23 new pop up sprinklers – by the end of the project Chris basically had a brand new irrigation system.
We started with the new reticulation controller as the old Kwik dial wasn’t operational, we replaced it with an 8 station Rainbird TM2 with a 3 year warranty and Wi-Fi compatibility. Next we moved onto the master valve and station solenoids, as all were either seized preventing water flow or the coils were shorting out the system due to old age and moisture damage – as with anything with moving parts if not operated on a semi regular basis they will fail. These were replaced with 25mm Irritrol BSP high flow solenoid valves.
Once the system was operational again, we moved onto trenching and installing the new PVC pipe and additional solenoid valve for around the new pool area and grass, along with a general service and replacement of sprinklers where required with Toro 570 series pop ups.
A huge couple of days, but Chris was delighted with how the projected was completed and his new reticulation system will be running at peak performance, season after season.
