Earlier last week we were contacted by one of our regular real estate companies to attend a property to carry out a reticulation controller replacement and general reticulation repairs in Mindarie.
On inspection it was evident the old controller unit had a faulty circuit as there was 24V getting to the unit itself however the controller had no display and was non-operational.
As a preferred Rainbird installer, we changed it over and replaced it with a TM2 6 station WIFI compatible controller.
Included in every controller installation we complete is what’s called a ’resistance’ test. This basically tells us the state of the master solenoid and any relevant station solenoids. In this case, the master solenoid was fine and stations 1 – 4 were fine, however station 5 was giving us the results of a ‘burnt’ coil.
Using our Pro Tech valve locating wand, we found the mystery station 5 in the back right hand corner of the property. These wands are lifesavers for irrigation contractors, otherwise it quite literally is trying to find a needle in a hay stack sometimes.
We replaced the entire solenoid valve itself as it wasn’t letting water through the diaphragm on a manual test.
The reticulation system is back up and running for another hot, long summer ahead!
