Reticulation Repairs in Hocking

Last week we were completing some reticulation repairs in Hocking for Louise.

Her retic wasn’t working whatsoever, on automatic programming or on manual override.

In these situations there can be many reasons as to why the reticulation isn’t operational, however there are a few key indicators that reticulation contractors look out for if the system isn’t responsive. These can include but aren’t limited to;

  1. The controller unit itself – as with all electrical appliances they have a limited lifespan and components or terminals on the unit can fail.

  2. A cut or damaged cable – from earthworks, home renovations, planting etc, or wire joints becoming brittle without a good connection.

  3. Master solenoid (systems on mains water) or bore pump

  4. Electrical shorts in the system from improper cabling techniques

In Louise’s case it was a combination of both the master solenoid and the controller unit itself. Whilst I was installing the new Rainbird ESP - TM2 4 station controller, Adam got started on locating the master solenoid with the Armada Pro 800 valve locating wand.

Generally the master solenoids are located within a meter of the water mains and are directly screwed onto a ball/gate valve isolation the reticulation from mains water to the house.

With the new reticulation controller installed and the master solenoid located and replaced with an Irritrol 25mm BSP valve, Louise had her reticulation back functional again and running at peak performance.
