A big day completing some reticulation repairs in Hillarys this week saw us not only replacing an ancient reticulation controller, but also running an extension for a new piece of lawn along with changing over some solenoids for Daniel.
First things first, so we could operate the system, we installed a new Rainbird TM2 WIFI ready 6 station controller. Although the previous controller was only 4 stations, we required an additional terminal to run a new station for Daniels new piece of turf.
Once we had the system operational, Adam and I noticed station 3 that ran a small garden bed wasn’t operational, so this was also replaced with an Irritrol 25mm BSP solenoid valve.
Next, out came the Groundhog trenching machine to run some new pipework for the additional zone to operate the new piece of lawn. Our groundhog is exceptional for narrow access to get into backyards and makes light work of trenching for new pipes. We found the main line to tap into, adding in the additional station 5 with an Irritrol 25mm slip solenoid.
As the area was only about 40 square meters, we used 5 Toro 570 series pop up sprinklers with 12ft nozzles, providing adequate coverage and pressure to water in Daniels new lawn.
A long day but it was great to see the finished product and Daniel was wrapped with the finished job.
