One of our most frequent call outs is for reticulation systems that don’t turn on, and this was unfortunately the case for Jade who needed reticulation repairs in Currambine.
In cases where the system won’t turn on from the controller, no matter which station you choose, there are a few general ‘rule of thumb’ options that irrigation contractors look for.
If you are on mains water, the three most common causes are a seized master solenoid, a cut wire generally the common, a faulty reticulation controller, or in Jades case multiple of the above.
Her master solenoid was completely seized shut, the coil was receiving poor readings and the diaphragm inside the valve had seen better days to say the least. The internals of the valve were so corroded that it couldn’t even be bypassed manually.
We installed a new 25mm Irritrol BSP master solenoid along with having our good friends at AJ’s plumbing and gas install a new certified mains water ball valve. One problem solved, however from the original tests completed the transformer wasn’t supplying 24 volts to the poor quality Holman controller unit, we agreed with Jade that a new Rainbird TM2 controller unit was her best option, supplied and installed with a 3 year warranty.
Jade was really pleased with the service she received, and is even more ecstatic she now has a fully operational reticulation system with an easy to operate controller unit.
