This week we were completing an irrigation service in Kallaroo for Thomas, who was ready to turn his reticulation back on after a long wet winter coming into the warmer spring months.
Thomas contacted us as his old Hunter X core controller wasn’t functional with the dial unable to select the desired settings. Unfortunately this is an all too common fault with the hunter X cores, and we suggested the replacement with a Rainbird TM2 ESP 6 station with 3 year warranty.
Along with the replacement of Tom’s irrigation controller, we also noticed all 5 of the front solenoid valves had low ohms readings that were shorting the system out. This happens when either moisture penetrates the joins in the cable, or the coils are ‘’burnt’’ out. We replaced all 5 solenoid valves with Irritrol BSP 25mm solenoids.
Upon testing we replaced a handful of sprinklers and various fittings, leaving Thomas with a reticulation system running at full pressure just in time for summer.
